The early American Iitterateur Edgar Allan Poe developed a school of his own in literati for his unique and significant achievement in short stories, poetry and literary criticism. Poe's recognition of the readers' responses makes his horror and grotesque stories the tinge of aestheticism. At the same time, his stories have starting significance in light of the gothic fictions' innovation in the New Continent and promote its taste of aesthetic implication.
