中华民族五千多年的历史源远流长,文化传统一脉相承,不曾中断。但是,国外各种新思想的不断涌入和渗透,影响着我们固有的价值观与审美观,使我们的作品越来越偏离民族传统个性。如果对传统文化不加扬弃必将会导致具有中国特色的现代设计的停滞。因此,如何认识中国传统元素与现代设计的关系,使其在设计中更为广泛和深入应用,是当今我们所面临的新课题。

The Chinese nation＇s five -thousand -year history has enjoyed a long standing and brought up a cultural tradition coming down in one continuous line without any break. However, with the continual inburst and pervasion of foreign thoughts, our connatural values and aesthetic standards have been influenced, and our works have gone further and further away from our nation＇s traditional characteristics. If traditional culture neither gets developed nor discarded, modem design with Chinese features will stop developing. Therefore, how to understand the relation between China＇s traditional elements and modem design, and how to make it applied widely and deeply in designing, are just the new tasks we are faced with now.
