摘要
虽然《吉姆老爷》被许多评论家称为"没有女人的男人",但作者康拉德不仅在文本中塑造了一位具有反抗意识与自我意识的新女性形象,而且以其"守护神"般的勇敢和智慧改写了男人守护女人的文学传统。女主角珏儿的独特形象为《吉姆老爷》的成功锦上添花。而康拉德特有的悲剧意识及其对女性道德的悲观却注定了珏儿的悲剧命运,这一定程度上加深了小说的悲剧力量。
Conrad portrays a new female image of resistance consciousness and serf-consciousness in Lord Jim. Thanks to her courage like a patron saint and her wisdom, the image changes the hterature tradition that male guards female. The unique image of the heroine Jewel makes the novel more successful and popular. It is the tragic consciousness of Conrad and his pessimism on female＇ s morality that destines the tragic fate of Jewel, which strengthens the tragedy of the novel.
