Whenever discussing translation strategies, many people would mention the dichotomy between literal translation and free translation, overt translation and covert translation, semantic translation and communicative translation, foreignizing translation and domesticating translation. This article attempts to analyze the main features of foreignizing translation and domesticating translation, and summarize the differences between them.
