Ancient Roads in Sichuan and Their Historical Roles

四川地理上的封闭性导致四川内外交通都十分困难,但历代四川人以大无畏精神,逢山开路,遇水搭轿,开辟了通往川陕陇甘、滇黔、藏区、湖广等处的诸多古道,发挥多方面的历史作用,促进了我国多民族国家的统一和四川各族地区的政治、经济、文化发展。

Ancient Sichuan, in its geography, was very closed, which led to many difficulties in its traffic both inside and outside. However, ancient Sichuan people bravely cut ways in the mountains, built bridges over the river and made many old roads to Shanxi, Gansu, Yunnan, Guizhou, Huan, Huanbei, Guangdong, etc. Those roads played many positive roles in the history and promote the unity of multi -national China and the political, economic and cultural development of Sichuan.
