人性是人的本质属性。人性包括两个方面:自然属性;社会属性。沈从文认为人性的美好状态应该是自然属性与社会属性的和谐统一。《边城》是沈从文表现理想人性的经典性作品。《边城》中的人性美体现在:人的生命的自然健康;人的品格的纯美高尚;人与人关系的和谐融洽。《边城》中的人性美具有传统文化(儒道)的内涵。作品中的人性美不仅在当时具有深刻的历史意义,同时对于物欲横流、道德沦丧的今天依然具有现实的启示意义,它所提供的理想人性范式是我们对人类未来永恒的憧憬。
