荀子的修身做人理论

On Xunzi's Theory of Self-cultivation and Self-conducting

荀子非常重视个人的修身做人,认为个人修身做人既有利于社会的稳定,又有利于实现个人的人生价值。他认为修身做人最重要的是养成"诚"的品德,具有宽容厚道的心胸和谦让不骄的作风,并就此提出了一系列具体细致的修养方法。荀子的修身做人理论特别重视个人言行对政治和社会的影响;注重外力他律的同时,亦很重视向内修养的工夫。

Laying much emphasis on personal self-cultivation and self-conducting, Xunzi held the opinion that personal self-cultivation and self-conducting contributes not only to social stability but also to the realization of one＇s life values. With the view that it is the most important to cultivate one＇s moral characters-to behave honestly, tolerantly and modestly, he put forward in detail a series of methods to achieve accomplishment in selLcultivation. This paper thinks that Xunzi＇s theory of self-cultivation and self-conducting has two characteristics： Firstly, much importance must be attached to the effects that one＇s words and behaviors make on politics and the society. Secondly, much emphasis should be put on being disciplined by external forces as well as being processed internally.
