谢彬参加过辛亥革命、讨袁斗争和北伐战争,是一个反帝反封建、追求资产阶级民主共和的战士。但谢彬的主要成就不在政治方面,而在学术方面。他学识渊博,兴趣广泛,勤奋笔耕,有不少开拓性的著作,成绩斐然。他关心国家安危,关心边疆政治建设和经济建设,关心国家领土主权,关心边疆的国防与外交,希望祖国富强。他是抱着痛国土之沦丧和忧国忧民之心来从事边疆问题研究的。在他的著作中,贯穿着一条爱国主义思想的红线,这是他留给后人的一份最宝贵的遗产。

Xie Bin participates many events like the Revolution of 1911. Anti-Yuan Shikai movements and the Northern Expedition Army War. However, Xie＇s main success lies in scholarly research other than politics. Well-informed with wide interests and copious writings, Xie cares about national security, the frontier＇s political and economic construction, territory sovereignty, national defense and diplomacy. He engages himself in frontier issues＇ research with a national-fate-conscious heart, thus his patriotism threads through all his works, which may serve as a precious heritage for us.
