Unique Transitional Space of Traditional Street: Analysis of the Covered Passageway on Each Side of Street in Xiaohe Town of Hubei Xiaochang

以湖北孝昌小河古镇环西街的街廊为研究范例,对街廊的空间位置、形态、构造类型和功能加以分析和总结,同时通过对街廊的人文背景、美学意义的阐述,试图把握街廊这一传统街道的空间特质,籍此丰富中国传统街道空间的类型。

Taking the covered passageway on each side of street in the ancient town of Hubei as a case to study, and based on the account of humane background and aesthetic significance of the covered passageway, this paper makes analysis of spacial treatment, function, structure and shape. It tries to summarize the passageway as a kind of Chinese traditional streets.
