Within the few years, many critical classics were published and each one is so outstanding and brilliant, and it is really a miracle in the history of criticism. Though these critics were no longer with us, their works give us edification with brilliance of intelligence all the same. Among them, Auerbach＇ s Mimesis, Brooks＇ s The Well Wrouhgt Urn, Leavis＇ The Great Tradition, Wellek and Warren＇ s Theory of Literaturcism are undoubtedly the very best of all classics, and represent the main trend of the literary criticsm history of that period.
