An Overview on the Study of Lin Yutang

林语堂是中国现代文学视野中有独特价值和魅力的作家。对他的研究可分为三个阶段:1979年以前,80年代,90年代至今。1979年以前的研究很薄弱,以印象式批评和观点批判为主;80年代的研究进入了史料挖掘与理论思考、宏观视野与文本分析相结合的阶段;90年代以来的研究则显示了初步的繁荣,但仍需开拓和深化。

Lin Yutang was a writer that has special value and magic power in the Chinese Modern Literature visual field. The research of Lin Yutang is divided into three stages： before 1979,80s, the 90s and up to now. In the years before 1979 the study of him was very weak mainly featuring in impressive criticism and standpoint judgment; In the stage of the 80s the research of Lin Yutang entered the period of historical data mining and theoretical thinking and of the combination of macroscopic visual field and originally texts study; the research since 90s then showed its elementary prosperity, but still needed to be expanded and deepened.
