《马氏文通》“句读之别”再认识

On the difference between "ju" and "dou" in Ma's Grammar

《马氏文通》非常重视区别"读"和"句",反复进行论说,还先后对17个段落和3篇短文进行"读"和"句"的分析,示范"读""句"区别,很费了一番气力。后人批评《马氏文通》"读""句"界限不清,其实只是一种误解。关键在于"读"与"句"在结构上相同,只在语气上有区别,而语气是不怎么容易分辨的。不过,仔细领会《马氏文通》区分"读"与"句"的理论,它们的区别还是很清楚的。

Ma's Grammar pays much attention to the distinction between 'ju'(main clause)and 'dou'(subordinate clause)with a detailed analyses of 17 paragraphs and 3 articles.However,this effort still meets some criticism for the so-called ambiguity in the cases of same structures with different tones,which are very subtle and difficult to tell.This paper holds that more careful studies of the book will make the issue clear.
