猎巫运动是发生在欧洲近代早期的一个历史事件。猎巫运动发端于教会对于巫术的迫害,社会转型时期的特殊社会形势促其发展成为一场遍及欧洲,延续时间长达三个世纪的运动,它的实质是社会转型引发的痛苦的"痉挛",这从一个侧面反映出了欧洲近代化之艰难。

The witch-hunting movement was a historical event in early modern Europe history, which was rooted in the church persecution of witches, and later became an important three-hundred-year movement all over Europe for the specific social situation of the social transformation period. As a matter of fact, the witch-hunting movement was a kind of torturous ＂convulsion＂ contributing to social transformation, which in some way made it clear that modernization in Europe was by no means an easy process.
