Reforming Our Legal Aid System to Promote the Building of a Harmonious Society

法律援助可以将因经济困难和其他特殊原因不能纳入法律调整的社会关系重新纳入法律轨道,使这类最易引发社会矛盾和影响社会稳定的纷争得到依法解决,对构建稳定而和谐的社会具有重要作用。但目前法律援助制度还存在种种问题,亟待改革。

Legal aid system is a way to include those fail-to-be-legally-adjusted social relations into our legal system, that is, a way to provide legal services to persons who cannot afford legal services for poverty or for some other reasons. With legal aid, conflicts that are likely to create social contradictions and cause social instability can be resolved by law and so legal aid system plays a very important role in the building up of a stable and harmonious society. However, there are numbers of problems existing in China＂ s legal aid system, which needs immediate reform.
