英语习语的汉译方法主要有直译法、套用法和意译法。教学翻译不同于翻译教学,它是培养基本语言技能的一种方法与途径。灵活运用教学翻译,可以准确充分地把握英语的内涵。

The major methods in translating English idioms into Chinese include literal translation, free translation and parallel idiom application. TTBS（the teaching of translation as a basic language skill）, different from TTPS （the teaching of translation as a professional skill）, is a mean to train the basic language skills. The connotations of English idioms can be fully conveyed to the learners of English with the use TTBS.
