凝胶电泳一般用来分析结果，但是同样可以作为在质谱、PCR、克隆、DNA测序和免疫杂交等进一步特性分析前的部分分子纯化准备技术。
Usually performed for analytical purposes, gel elecrophoresis is also used as a preparative technique to partially purify molecules prior to use of other methods such as mass spectrometry, PCR, cloning, DNA sequencing, or immunoblotting for further charaeterisation.
