In April this year, Premier Wen Jiabao paid an "ice-thawing visit" to Japan and reached consensus with the Japanese side on the basic principles of the "strategic and mutually beneficial relationship": China and Japan together should play a constructive role in maintaining peace, stability, and development in Asia and the world at large. Based on this consensus, the two countries will conduct an all-round cooperation of mutual benefit at bilateral, regional, and international levels, so as to make contributions to the two countries, Asia and the world.
