Different Cultural Connotations between Chinese and English in Terms of the English Version of a Chinese Idiom

本文通过对汉语成语"龙马精神"的英译分析,就中、英文中关于动物"龙"和"马"的文化内涵差异作一简单的介绍,试图说明语言文字和民族文化间存在着密不可分的联系。

The present paper, based on the analysis on the English version of the Chinese idiom ＂excellent spirits＂, makes a brief introduction on the cultural connotations of the two animals -dragon and horse both in Chinese and in English, trying to state that there is a close relationship between language and culture.
