俄罗斯对于国家现代化的向往和努力,已经有三百多年历史。与同时代其他国家相比,俄罗斯现代化进程尤其充满坎坷与挫折。有必要讨论十月革命对俄罗斯社会转型的影响作用,从大历史的眼光来理解十月革命的伟大意义,同时对这个国家在历史上积累起来的许多特性给予必要的强调。

It has been more than 300 years that Russia endeavoured to the modernized state. Compare to its counter- part states in the same times, the modemization process of Russia was full of obstacles and frustrations. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the influence of the October Revolution to the social transformation of Russia and to understand the great historic significance of it through a ＂great history＂ perspective. In the mean time, the distinctive characteristics which were accumulated in the Russian national history will be fully respected.
