摘要
从"呼啸山庄"与"画眉田庄"的象征意义出发,对男女主人公从"自然"向"文明"渗透与转化的进程进行分析,得出凯瑟琳对希刺克厉夫与林顿之间的选择是对"自然"与"文明"的选择。最终"文明之爱"战胜了"自然之爱",这是资本主义社会金钱观与婚姻观所决定的。这场爱情悲剧的根源是不平等、不自由的,具有社会必然性。
This paper starts from the symbolic meaning of Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, probes into the process of the heroes and heroines＇ infiltration and conversion from Nature to Civilization and draws a conclusion that Catherine＇ s choice between Heathcliff and Linton is actually the one between
Nature and Civilization. It is decided by the view on money and marriage in the capitalistic society that the Love of Civilization eventually prevails over the Love of Nature. Both Catherine and Heathcliff are the victims of the times and the society. Their love tragedy origins from the unequal and limited class society and thus the tragedy is an irresistible fate and has its societal inevitability.
