台湾现代派诗歌受西方现代主义的世界观和人生观影响,对社会和人生的观点悲观虚无,色调晦暗。表现手法上借鉴象征主义、意象派和意识流的创作手法,表现自我内在的心灵世界,抽象地探讨人的价值。台湾现代派诗歌对人的内心世界的开掘是深刻的,探讨了人在社会和金钱及自私虚伪本性的挤压下的各种心态,在很多方面做出了不同于传统诗歌的探索和创新。

The best feature of Taiwan modem poetry is to represent western modernist literature thoughts, mainly including existentialist and surrealist outlook towards world and life. The poetry holds pessimistic and empty ideas towards society and life, the tone of which is obscure. In terms of representation devices, the poetry borrows from symbolism, imagism and stream of consciousness to exhibit the poets mind and exploit the value of ＂human＂ in an abstract way. Consequently, the poetry profoundly exploits different attitudes, even sick attitudes, of human beings when they are facing pressure from society, money and their selfish and hypocritical nature. The poetry also makes some reform and exploration which differs from traditional poetry in many ways.
