简论中国近代留日学生的特点

On the Characteristics of Modern Chinese Students in Japan

在中国近代留学史上,留日学生与留美、留欧学生相比有着不同的特点,主要是:1.人数最多,大体7万人左右,为其他各国留学生总和的近2倍;2.政治性强,多学军事政法,好译西书和从事政治运动;3.双重日本观,日本先进文化的熏陶和侵略政策的刺激,使留日学生常常处于对日既爱又恨的矛盾之中;4.对两国关系影响最大,他们中的多数人不仅充当了反日斗争的先锋,而且掌握南京政府对日外交的实权,由此决定了对日关系中的妥协和抵抗的双重政策。

In Chinese modern history of studying abroad, the students studying in Japan are different from the students abroad in America and Europe. The characteristics of them are mainly as the followings： Firstly, the number of them is roughly 70,000 nearly twice of the students studying in the other countries. Secondly, they have strong political characteristics. They mainly learn military affairs, politics and law, and they are also wild about translating books of western countries and engaging in political campaigns. Thirdly they have double views of Japan. Because of the edification of Japanese advanced culture and the stimulation of its aggressive：policy, the students there are often in love - hate paradox. Finally, they make the greatest impact on the relations between China and Japan. Not only do the mass of them serve as the vanguard of the anti - Japanese struggle, but also is the diplomacy power with Japan of Nanjing government controlled by those returning students from Japan, which has determined the dual policy to Japan of compromise and resistance.
