The psychoanalysis formed the most important cultural environment for the development of the west biography in 20^th century and deeply influenced the latter. The modernization of biography was closely connected with the involvement of psychoanalysis. Sigmund Freud and his supporters＇ biographical practice contributed much to the modernization of biography. Psychoanalysis also opened new fields and provided new viewpoints for modern biographical narrative, and pushed the discussion about some crucial biographical issues into a deeper stage.
