There was much disagreement in the academic community over the theme of Frankenstein. The article made a conclusion that the novel was retelling the story of ＂lost paradise＂ since its overall frame echoed the John Milton＇ s Lost Paradise. Borrowing the mythical structure about ＂degeneration＂, Mary Shelley told her opinions on the relationship between people and nature, and the one between people and society. And her thoughts did surpass the era she lived in.
