SLOVENE ARCHITECTURE AND THE LJUBLJANA SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

Some claim that we, Slovenes, are truly gifted for architecture. Maybe this is just a witty wisecrack, but nevertheless the undeniable truth is that despite our modest count, we are surely well established and represented on the global architectural scene.We became visible at the turn of the 19th century, while still subjects of the Habsburg monarchy, when two prominent Slovene architects, Max Fabiani and Joze Plecnik, worked in Vienna. Both were members of OttoWagner＇s academic circle, probably one of the most influential European architects of the time.
