During the course of the past thirty years or so, trams or light rail systems have been making a comeback as efficient, economical, non-polluting and attractive people movers.Trams improve the quality of life in city centres which would otherwise be congested with traffic. Often, tram rails can form the key to city centre redevelopment, renewal and regeneration. And now trams are likely to benefit from advances in clean energy automation, such as hybrid electric engines and fuel cells.
