Predicting the behaviour of buried structures due to construction nduced ground settlement is an important issue, particularly when it involves ageing infrastructures,such as a masonry tunnel and pipelines. There is very little knowledge, for example, of how a brick-lined tunnel will perform to tunnel-induced soil movements. Now researchers in the department of engineering at Cambridge University in the UK have come up with a solution.
