根据《溢纳恒索》、《确庇恒索》、《能数恒索》、《以补舍额》、《吐鲁立米》等重要彝文文献记载,夜郎是公元前三世纪彝族六国分封立国,弭阿枯乍氏族所建的宗法氏族王国,彝文文载之为楚哪蒙国,《史记》等,称之为夜郎君长国。夜郎在彝族社会中,对彝族古代文明史,在继承和发展上,起到承先启后的地位和作用。

According to some important documents of the Yi language, Yelang was a kingdom established in the third century Before Christ, a tribe kingdom by a clan called Erakuzha, and called Nameng in the Yi language and recorded as Yelang Kingdom in the book＂ The Records of History＂ Kingdom Yelang played a connecting role and position between past and future in the Yi society, its history of civilization, its inheritance and development.
