华贸中心整体规划的宗旨是营造多功能为一体的复合性城市空间。基地由南至北划分成三个区域南部为办公区,建筑面积25万m^2;北部为住宅区建筑面积23.8万m^2;零售店、酒店在中部建筑面积分别为14.46万m^2、8.27万m^2。
The scheme's basic organizing principle is to create a series of urban spaces, defined by mixed-use buildings, the mixed use composition of buildings is arranged in three zones layered south to north on the site. This zoning of program arranges the office program to the south, the residential to the north, and retail/hotel in the center. The office program is divided into 3 separate towers with varying heights. Tower 1 (180meters), the tallest and located farthest to the east, becomes the dominant form viewed on the eastern approach to Beijing and when combined with the prominent new footbridge across jiangguo creates a "gateway" into the great city. Tower 3 (120 meters) marks the prominent south west comer of the site with a sculptural form and deflects the visual focus into the center of the site and the retail plaza experience.
