Tne game “Chuiwan” in Chinese history was called ＂Eastern GoLf＂ by the westerners. Tnerefore, there is an academic viewpoint that the modem golf sport was originated in China. However, the Chinese＂ Chuiwan＂ was not as the Scottish golf, which became a fashionable modem sport in the world. Tne author inquires into the enlightening and development of the game ＂Chuiwan＂in Chinese history from the historical materialism viewpoint. It provides theoretical foundation for enriching the heritage of the historical culture of China and improving the research system of national sports history.
