Main trends in the study of Chinese literature in the new century

进入新世纪的中国文学研究成果斐然。人们反思20世纪中国文学研究的经验教训,认为昭示了一个基本事实:推动学术质变的关键因素是观念的更新。新世纪中国文学研究向何处发展,马克思主义文艺理论的中国化成为当前关注的核心问题。学科的疆界,本来是中国文学研究现代化的进程中逐渐划分出来的,这一进程的深化,实现了与国际学术界同步接轨的最初目标,同时也逐渐显现出一些值得反思的问题。对文学研究诸多问题的回归与超越,一方面是对过去专业划分过细的弊端有所反思,强调综合研究的重要,另一方面又有一种回归传统、回归文学经典、强化个案研究的倾向。而最终的目标,是尽早步入文学研究中国化的历史进程。新世纪的文学研究在转型期的探索,提出了若干重要的问题,涉及到文学研究的思想原则、学术方法和研究态度等诸多方面。

The essay can be divided into five parts：firstly, it is a review of the last century, in which we analyze the context in which the review of a hundred years of Chinese literary study became a new academic hotspot for the new century. Secondly, the paper believes that the experience and lessons of Chinese literary study in the 20th century made it clear that the key factor impelling the academia to make a substantial change was the change of ideas. In the new century it is imperative to sinieize the literature and art theory of Marxism. Thirdly, the division of academic discipline came into being in the course of the modernization of Chinese literary study, in an effort to realize a synchronous connection with the international academic world, but this effort also brought about problems. Fourthly, while we see excess of disciplinary division and call for a reasonable stress on a more synthetic approach, there is also a trend of returning to tradition, to the literary classics and to case study. However, the final aim was to modernize the study of Chinese literature. Fifthly, the probe during a transformation period like ours has revealed important problems in various aspects, such as the ideological principles, academic approaches and manners of literary study.
