4~6min。 Objective To examine the effect of different exercise durations on the calculated accu- mulated O2 deficit (MAOD). Methods Fifteen healthy male volunteers participated in this study. They were asked to perform 5 × 10min submaximal exercise bouts (with intensities of 25%,40%,55%, 70%,85%VO2max) and a supramaximal exercise bout on bicycle at 120% of VO2max for 132.2±33.6s to exhaustion. The O2 uptake was measured at 2-4,4-6,6-8 and 8-10min of the test at the five different constant powers. Results MAOD calculated from 2-4min exercises (35.8±4.0ml·kg^-1 · min^-1) were significantly lower than the value calculated from longer than 8-10min of exercise (44.3±2.4 ml/kg/min). Conclusions For simplifying testing procedure, submaximal exercise duration can be shortened to 4-6min.
