This paper introduces the large hydroelectric turbine generators sets configuration and their parameters of Three Gorges project, and the characteristic of WFB-800 relay equipment. According to the actual condition, it puts forward the application of WFB-800 for the protection of the large hydroelectric turbine generators of Three Gorges project.How to implement configuration scheme for two sets of main protection, two sets of backup protection, two sets of abnormal operation protection are introduced.The new technique applied for main protection is proposed. According to the special protection of the Three Gorges project large hvdroelectric turbine generators sets. the adonted imnlementation methods for some snecial nrotection are exnlained in detail.
