Objective To investigate the expressions of skin-specific chemokine CCL27 and its receptor CCR10 in lesions of psoriasis vulgaris and the relation between their expression intensity to disease activity. Methods Specimens were collected from 20 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and 10 normal human controls. The expressions of CCL27 and CCR10 were measured by streptavidin-peroxidase ( SP ) technique. Results The positivity rates of CCL27 and CCR10 were significantly higher in lesions of psoriasis vulgaris than those in normal controls ( 95% vs 20%, χ^2 = 17.86, P 〈 0.01; 85% vs 10%, χ^2 = 15.63, P 〈 0.01 ). The expression levels of both CCL27 and CCR10 positively correlated with psoriasis area and severity index ( PASI ) of patients with psoriasis vulgaris ( r = 0.82, 0.83 respectively, both P 〈 0.01 ). Conclusion These results suggest that the overexpression of CCL27 and CCR10 may be related to the disease activity of psoriasis vulgaris.
