摘要
1894年8月,法国税务司李约德在越南芒街被匪徒绑架。这本是一桩普通的刑事案件,但在处理的时候,却升格为关系中法条约的交涉。在交涉中,法国粗暴干涉中国的内政,蛮横地向中国索赔,几乎将这一偶发事件导致为战争。李约德事件的交涉,体现了近代中国弱国地位的苦楚。
Yue Dell, a French tax official, was kidnapped in Vietnam in the August of 1894. The incident evolved to be the national issues in the treaty between China and France, and the French government force Chinese an unreasonable compensation. The incident reveals the terribly low international status of then Chinese government.
