摘要
Intentionality is a basic feature of life.Since F.Brentano put forward that intentionality is a criterion to distinguish between mental phenomenon and physical phenomenon, the topic of intentionality has been broadly and deeply probed into by the schools of Phenomenology. Analytical Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Pragmatics and others, has become a pivot to analyze the general structure of consciousness, the identity of life ("I"), meaning and other topics. With the development of cognitive science and life science since mid-twentieth century, researchers have come to investigate further the origin of intentionality in organisms. Based on the theory of Autopoiesis, this paper inquires into the origin of intentionality, the biological mechanism of its emergence and the relationship between meaning and life.
