Improving students＇reading comprehension is the essential target in the foreign langnage teaching. The paper elaborates the principle of discourse teaching and discusses the application of discourse teaching from five aspects. Therefore it concludes discourse teaching is the effective way to improve the reading comprehensive competence of the students.
