α2肾上腺素能受体激动剂右美托嘧啶是美托嘧啶的活性右旋异构体，是新型、高效、高选择性的α2受体激动剂。具有镇静、抗焦虑、催眠、止痛作用，不良反应少，适用于重症监护治疗期间气管插管和使用呼吸机病人的镇静。
Dexmedetomidine is the active d-isomer of medetomidine, a new, highly effective and slective α -adrenoreceptor. Dexmedetomidine has sedative and analgesic properties but minimal adverse effects. It can be used as a sedative analgesic for the patients required intubation and mechanical ventilation in ICU.
