Exploring Editorial's Attitudinal Evaluation from Appraisal Theory

评价理论是功能语法理论的新发展,态度系统是整个评价理论的核心。依据态度系统,对社论进行个案分析。发现社论中的人际意义主要体现在作者对于社会事件的态度评价上,通过情感、判断、鉴别三种手段共同作用实现。社论作者通过其评价来影响读者的态度、观点,从而达到引导社会舆论,维护道义,重构社会现实的目的。

Appraisal Theory is the latest development of Functional Grammar with the Attitude System as its core. Based on attitude system, this paper makes a case study about an editorial. The findings arc ： the interpersonal meanings arc mainly embodied by the author attitude evaluation on social events, which arc realized by the methods of attitude, judgment and appreciation. Through evaluation, the author influences the audiences＇attitude, viewpoint and their own appreciation, so to reach its aim of guiding the public opinions, supporting justice, and reconstructing the social reality.
