As a Southern writer who is persevere in the exploration of the values and meaning of human life, Robert Penn Warren' s philosophy of self is composed of two inalienable aspects : historical continuity and moral responsibility. In his famous novel All the King's Men, Warren tries to represent his life philosophy on the creation of the integrated self through the artistic form of novel. At the same time he tries to make rational exploration of the possibility and the effective ways to reintegrate the "divided selves" and create a harmonious one in modern society. Warren' s theory can be a significant edification to our country which is devoted to the construction of harmonious life and society.
