《幸福》是新西兰女作家凯瑟琳.曼斯菲尔德的代表作之一,其中象征主义手法的运用是小说的一大特色。曼斯菲尔德借火、孩子、猫、月亮、食物和梨树等意象所传达的含义,揭示了女主人公柏莎的内心世界和不幸婚姻。
Katherine Mansfield, a female writer from New Zealand, is skillful in the writing of her short stories. With the use of symbolism as one of its striking features, the short story Bliss is one of her representative works. In this story, Mansfield makes use of the symbolism skill and through the implication of the images, such as fire, baby, cat, moon, food, pear tree and so on, reveals the internal world and the unfortunate marriage of the protagonist Bertha, a 30-year-old woman from the middle class.
