In August 2007, international copper price dropped from high levels amid the US subprime mortgage crisis, and was then pushed up by the bailouts of central banks. 3-month copper futures moved between US$6750 and US$7935 and closed August at US$7400, down US$610 from end-July. Shanghai copper market followed the global markets. Beginning this month at 69610 yuan, the most active copper contract 0711 on the SHFE closed August at65620 yuan, losing 3450 yuan from the previous month.
