Nearly a hundred scientists and researchers from across the world, including China, France, Germany, Holland, Japan, Korea, Spain, UK, and USA, gathered at the Insti- tute of Geology and Geophysics, Beijing, for a threeday symposium on Paleomagnetism and the Earth＇s Deep Interior. The symposium was co-sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was co- organized by Professor R. Zhu, Beijing, China and Professor K. Zhang, Exeter, UK.
