今年是东盟成立40周年，于广西南宁举行的第四届中国一东盟博览会也可以视为中国献给东盟40岁生日的贺礼。在这个具有历史纪念意义的时刻，总结东盟40年的历程，明确东南亚在中国外交战略中的地位，并进一步推动中国-东盟面向和平与繁荣的战略伙伴关系，无疑更具实质性意义。

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN, and the 4th China-ASEAN Expo which will be held in Nanning, China can be seen as a birthday gift contributed by China to ASEAN. At this historic moment, it undoubtedly bears pragmatic significance to have a review of the history of ASEAN in the past 40 years, to identify the role played by the Southeast Asia in China＇s diplomatic strategy and to further advance the strategic partnership between China and ASEAN for peace and prosperity.
