元朝强烈的民族对立情绪、深重的阶级压迫等时代特点为当时的大量诗歌染上了一层"丧乱"色彩。刘因作为元初由金入元的主要诗人,有其个人的诗歌特点:注重写实;多用典故,委婉含蓄;运用丰富的修辞手法和奇特的想象。刘因作为理学家富于理智和理性,但有的丧乱诗还是曲折地流露出压抑在内心的忧伤。对屈膝投降者的历史批评,则是刘因民族情结的重要表现。

In the Yuan Dynasty, large quantities of poems were imbued with a layer of disturbance characterized by strong national antagonistic feelings, deep class oppression, etc. of that time. Liu Yin, a chief poet from Jin to Yuan in the early Yuan Dynasty, has his own personal poetic features, attaching importance to writing about truth, using more allusions and the techniques of euphemism, and employing rich rhetorical devices and mysterious imaginations. As an idealist philosopher, Liu Yin was full of wisdom and rational knowledge, but in some of his poems relating to disturbance, he indirectly disclosed his depression and worry.
