漆画是附属于漆器的装饰图像,其绘制技法、题材以及所表露的时代风格,均反映出当时绘画艺术的一些特征。由于迄今遗留下来的楚绘画资料过于贫乏,楚漆画理所当然地就成为目前了解楚绘画艺术的重要参考资料。考古发掘所得楚漆画,多出自湖北、湖南、河南等地墓葬之中。有关漆画的研究成果虽有不少,但多集中于对个别漆画的内容进行考证,而整体研究显得极为不足,如对它产生的背景研究就是一例。论文结合考古出土实物,从材料与技术、工具与颜料、社会因素、题材内容等几个方面,探讨了楚漆画产生的背景。
