Why did the lyricists in Tang and Song dynasties prefer to depict the scene of the fallen blooms in the season of spring?. Why do their lyrics display such marked tone of grieving over the departing spring?. The author of this paper believes that the lyrics in that period were written to fit a certain tune so that singing girls might sing them out in a feasting and wining environment. It is not difficult to find that the lyrics in the early period especially tend to imitate the tone of singing girls, which reflects a time - honored way of composing young girls' spring romances. Therefore , choosing to depict the fallen blooms, a symbol of the departing of spring, becomes a convenient technique for expressing the moodiness of young girls, whieh constitutes a typical aesthetic feature of Tang and Song delicate lyrics.
