It was a field of wheat up to 1987. Twenty years later, it is No.1 Gaoyuan （plateau） Street, Beijing. Gaoyuan Street is known for being the site of Beijing Tibet High School. Enrolling more than 800 kids from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, it is at present the biggest Tibet high school in the interior areas of China.
