我国西部地区特殊的地理、气候等自然环境和复杂的民族、宗教等社会因素构成了其特有的社会文化,其中,与医药卫生有关的物质成分和精神成分便构成了西部地区的医学文化。西部地区医学文化有其独特的基本特征:一是多方面因素共构共生形成了流行病学的复杂性,二是天然蕴藏量极其丰富的医药卫生资源,三是在西部脆弱的社会生态影响下而形成的脆弱的卫生生态,四是主要受经济发展水平制约而客观存在的多元医学模式共存。
