Synthetically applying various theories and methods, this paper has systematically studied the site classification and quality evaluation of Pinus massoniana forests for water and soil conservation in the middle-upper reaches of Yangtze River and founded a system. This system provides a scientific basis for designing, progromming, planting and managing the shelter forests of Yangtze River, and for measuring the benefits of the shelter forests.
